History


 Hwaseong Boating       Festival
The Hwaseong Boating Festival is the representative festival of Hwaseong City, and it is a festival that was fostered to turn the area around Jeongok Port, which is equipped with marina facilities, into the center of the West Coast tourism era. 2008~2012
Gyeonggi International Boat Show and Korea Match Cup World Yacht Competition

The Hwaseong Boating Festival started with the ‘2008 Gyeonggi International Boat Show and Korea Match Cup World Yacht Competition’ held as part of Gyeonggi-do’s west coast development project in 2008. Korea Match Cup World Yacht Competition & Gyeonggi Hwaseong Maritime Festival

In 2013, the name of the festival was changed to ‘2013 Korea Match Cup World Yacht Competition & Gyeonggi Hwaseong Maritime Festival’, and the venue of the festival was also unified at Jeongok Port. The ‘Gyeonggi International Boat Show’, which focuses on yacht and boat exhibitions and export consultations, was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, while the ‘Korea Match Cup World Yacht Competition’ and the Maritime Festival were dualized and promoted at Jeongok Port. The name of the festival was partially changed to reflect the fact that the venue was Jeongok Port and the realistic situation in which Hwaseong City shared the cost of the festival. In 2014, the name of the festival was changed to ‘Hwaseong Maritime Festival’ and Hwaseong City tried to promote it alone, but it was canceled due to the Sewol ferry disaster and held in 2015. The festival period was changed from the previous end of May to the beginning of June to the end of July to the beginning of August, the summer vacation season, and the ripple effect of the festival was expanded to the surrounding areas by dividing the festival space into Jeongok Port and Gungpyeong Port. 2016~2018

In 2016, the name of the festival was changed to ‘Hwaseong Boating Festival’, the holding time of the festival was changed again from the end of May to the beginning of June, and the venue of the festival was unified to Jeongok Port. The composition of the program consisted of various water events and camping programs that can be enjoyed both on land and in the sea, with a focus on yacht and boat boarding experiences, securing the popularity of the festival.
